I found Birdman to be fascinating to me from a filmmaking point of view. I love how the film is perceived as one continuous shot, I did notice two spots where I felt he would have done the cuts, but the seemed pretty seamless to me. It felt like a play, and I think that was the point of shooting it like that. It felt more alive, more real, and created a bigger unknown factor.
The performances were outstanding across the board, from the main characters to the small minor and sometimes line less roles. I love how the story mirrored, to some degree, the life and career of Michael Keaton. It added this wonderful subtext to the film and performance, that if Keaton wins the Oscar for Best Actor, it will be for the performance he deserves it for and not a decent performance later in career that is seen as a "career Oscar."
Do go see this film. I cannot implore enough to see this. On the biggest screen you can.

Graffiti With Punctuations
I've always wanted to start blogging again since 1UP was shut down.
So what I want to do with this blog is at first, blog about films I watch through out the year, both cinema releases and anything I watch on blu-ray or iTunes. Nothing big at first maybe a paragraph or two for the first couple of weeks until I start to find my voice again and then start doing deeper thoughts on what I watch.
I may start to include stuff outside films, but I want to wait a month or two before I do that.
So here's to the first steps of this new adventure.
I don't know where the path will lead, just that I know that I wish to walk it.
